Driver Improvement Test Sites
While the Virginia DMV formerly required Virginia Online Driver Improvement students to travel to an authorized test site to take their final exam, students can now complete the exam 100% online. You're free to take the test at home or anywhere with internet access.
How Does the Final Exam Work?
Once you complete the learning portion of the Virginia Online Driver Improvement course, you can start your online exam. The final exam includes 50 multiple-choice questions, and you must get a score of 80% or higher to pass.
Do I Need to Confirm My Identity for the Exam?
Yes. The Virginia DMV requires students to confirm their identities prior to starting the final exam to ensure that the person taking the exam is the same person that completed the course. To confirm your identity online, you will be required to answer personal identity validation questions.
After you register for the course, you will be required to answer multiple questions about yourself. You will be prompted to answer these same questions before you start your final exam. If you fail to answer these questions correctly, you will not be permitted to start the test.
How Many Chances Do I Have to Pass the Exam?
You have an unlimited number of attempts to pass your online final exam. However, you can only take the exam once every 24 hours. If you fail the test, you will not be permitted to retake it until 24 hours have passed.
